🧬 T-MINUS 3 DAYS: GENE FRAGMENTS & RECOMBINATION 🧬

📝 OPERATIONAL NOTE This guide is intended to give easy-to-follow guidance and does not endeavor to be a full explainer. We want you to be able to take a clear instruction and, by following it, increase your odds of success. Just like at the start of the game, there is a lot to know, and sometimes it is best to just know what to do and then fully understand it later.

In our last guides, we discussed upgrading your Protein Farms and Military Bases. To perform those critical upgrades, you will need a massive amount of Mutant Crystals.

The primary way to generate Mutant Crystals is through an event called Genetic Recombination. Here are the rules and procedures on how to run this system with maximum efficiency.

1. THE RECOMBINATION RULE

To perform a Recombination, you must collect a complete set of 6 different Gene Fragments (Types I through VI).

When you combine one of each type, the game deposits Mutant Crystals directly into your storage. It is that simple, but completing sets requires coordination.

2. WHERE TO GET THE FRAGMENTS

The game splits the fragments into two categories. You cannot just buy them; you must play both sides of the game to get a full set:

• Types I, II, & III (Combat): You earn these by completing your daily radar missions and killing zombies or doom elites on the map.
• Types IV, V, & VI (Teamwork): You earn these primarily by curing your infected allies. As mentioned in our virus discussions, use your syringes to cure your allies' infection stacks. When you do, check your in-game mail to claim these teamwork fragments.

3. THE RADAR RULE (DO NOT STALL AT 30)

You are given a set number of Recombination "attempts" that regenerate over time. You can hold a maximum of 30 attempts at once.

⚠️ CRITICAL TARGET: KEEP ATTEMPTS REGENERATING Treat this exactly like your Radar tasks. If your attempts sit at 30/30, the regeneration timer completely stops, and you are throwing away free Mutant Crystals. Check the Recombination tab daily. If you are nearing the cap, you must find your missing fragments and burn those attempts down immediately.

4. TRADING FRAGMENTS - DO IT!

You will never naturally acquire a perfectly balanced set of fragments. You will frequently find yourself with eight of Type II and zero of Type V.

Treat this exactly like the Treasure Map fragments from our pre-season Secret Tasks. You must trade your extra fragments with your alliance mates in Alliance Chat every single day.

• Ask & Offer: If you need a Type V, ask for it! If you have extra Type IIs, offer them up! Do not sit on stacks of extra fragments while your recombination queue is jammed.
